The role of Joseph of Arimathea during the burial of Jesus is one of the few things discussed in all four gospels. According to the gospels, Joseph of Arimathea was a rich man, a member of the Sanhedrin. The Gospels relate that it was Joseph of Arimathea who asked Pilate for the body of Jesus after the Crucifixion. Saint John and Saint Matthew even say that he was a disciple of Jesus. Joseph took the body of Jesus, wrapped it in linen, and buried it in a tomb that he may have prepared for himself. The Arimatheans of Saint Ann are a dedicated group in our parish who attend Funeral Masses and pray for those who have died. The presence of the Arimatheans help to support the family of the deceased. The Arimatheans are notified of funeral arrangements and if they are able, attend the Funeral Mass. The time commitment is based on your schedule and the time and date for funerals. If you would like to learn more about the Arimatheans or would like to participate in this important ministry of the parish, please call 239-262-4256.
